Jackson Hole

We love Jackson Hole. We end up choosing to visit there often (at least once a year, I would say). This year we traded our East Canyon time share for a week at the Jackson Hole Town Center Resort. We left the day school got out which is always a little tricky. We arrived late and the next day we hike to Taggert Lake.

This was a cool bridge that we had to cross and then when we got there we ate a little lunch and enjoyed the view. It was a pretty lake.

We stopped in at the Pioneer Grill and had milkshakes and dinner. It was so fun! For as many times as I had been to the Jackson Lake Lodge I had never eaten at this classic diner. I'm thinking it will be a tradition!

We went to church @ Doug and Carrie Stakers Ward on Sunday. We thought they were going to be in Idaho for a cousins wedding but not so. Their whole family was there in Jackson. It was so great to see everyone: Greg and Shannon, Ken and Allison, Doug and Carrie, Alan, Cheryl and Josh, and Sunny and Josh, Larry and Michelle and all the grandkids. They invited us to join them for dinner after church which was so fun to be able to visit and get updates on everyone. What a great family! I am so glad that I know them. We made arrangements with Ken and Allison and their family to do some canoeing together later in the week (see below).

On our way to ride the boat at Jenny Lake we ran across a heard of elk running along side our car and then deciding to cross over the road. Very cool.

We hiked on Monday to Hidden Falls after we rode the boat across the lake. The best part was the ride back when Brad and the kids got sprayed by the boat all the way home. It was a good thing they all had their raincoats on!

Does this not look like the cutest group of kids ever! We had 5 Adults, 13 kids and 5 canoes. We met at Moose and picked up our gear and headed over to string lake. We had 2 portage wheel sets to help us get over to Leigh Lake. We had packed some snacks and brought our camp stove to make hot chocolate. The weather turned bad on us and it got a little dicy on the leigh lake side. So we pulled off, into the rocks. Many of the kids where wet and cold and scared but it was short lived. It cleared up as soon as the hot chocolate was ready and we headed over to our favorite beach. We hung out for a little and then headed back. As usual Leigh Lake was spectacular and the company was exceptionally fun and adventurous.

This was our final hike at the Lawrence P. Rockefeller Preserve. It was a great trail and had a beautiful building. I wish I had gotten a picture of it.

Wrapping up our trip, it's not complete without a walk around town and some treats from the bakery to eat at the town square. Awesome vacation to start the summer!
